None of us had any idea what the future would bring coming through the Dark Portal for the first time when The Burning Crusade was finally released on Jan. 16, 2007.
Easy Company was only a little more than a dozen players with a fairly successful raiding pedigree. EC was one of many new guilds that wanted to do things “better” with the release of the expansion now that raid groups no longer required 40 players. However, with so many new guilds to choose from and competing against well-established raiding guilds, recruiting the right types of players was a monumental challenge.
Many of the new guilds struggled including us for quite some time; consolidation was inevitable. Compared to the leading guilds on Aggramar, we were several months behind in content. Seeing Illidan much less beating him was looking to be a near impossible goal to reach before the release of the next expansion.
After all the ups and down for eleven months after the release of TBC, Easy Company finally started to hit its stride in Dec. 2007 with some luck and careful decision making. Our reputation for being a mature and skilled group that we worked hard to cultivate was finally starting to pay dividends. EC began to progress through the content at a torrid pace. In roughly ten months, EC had completed four raid instances and defeated 25 raid bosses prior to Patch 3.0 including Illidan, a boss many of us thought we would never see only months before, and Kalecgos in Sunwell Plateau. Easy Company had jumped into the top 10 in raid progression after being almost six month behind. In the end, EC was the fourth guild on Aggramar to defeat Kil’jaeden and complete all the encounters in TBC.
Prior to the release of Wrath, we saw it fitting to take a quick guild snapshot at where it all began. Easy Company has certainly grown and come a long way. I do not think we will have any trouble filling 10-man instances anymore.
